The most famous and oldest stud farm in Poland, founded in 1817, is located in Janów Podlaski in Lubelskie Voivodeship. It breeds one of the world's most beautiful purebred Arabian and crossbred Anglo-Arabian horses. Each year, an auction is held in Janów Podlaski, which attracts breeders from all over the world. A record was established in the 2008 auction. During the 39th Pride of Poland, a mare called Kwestura was sold for EUR 1.125 million! This is the highest price that has ever been paid for a horse at an auction in Janów Podlaski. The mare was purchased by a bidder from Near East.
