Entrepreneurs from Eastern Poland signed a total of 520 contracts

Results of the surveys conducted among enterprises from Eastern Poland have shown that from the very beginning of the implementation of the Eastern Poland Economic Promotion Programme i.e. in the period from January 2010 to November 2013, as many as 520 contracts were concluded for the total amount of PLN 269,079,433.99.

Thanks to the fantastic location of the Eastern Poland Macroregion, i.e. Podkarpackie, Świętokrzyskie, Lubelskie, Podlaskie and Warmińsko-Mazurskie voivodeships, the region remains a venue for the constant development of investment sectors.In respective industries, most contracts were signed, respectively, in following sectors:food, lingerie andyacht industries. New jobs were created in almost all branches of priority for the Macroregion.

Through the signed contracts the enterprises invested not only in new employees, nut also developed their activity by starting new production lines, opening new factories and through new equipment.The value of investments was highest in the aviation sector, where the amount exceeded PLN 20 million.Also the highest value of signed contracts has been noted in this sector, namely a total of PLN 120 million.High value of contracts was declared by food sector companies too – their total amount was almost PLN 100 million.In terms of voivodeships, the highest value of contracts was recorded in Podkarpackie voivodeship, i.e. PLN 145.59 million.

The survey conducted by the Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency has also shown the distribution of employment growth and number of contracts concluded in the Eastern Poland Macroregion among respective voivodeships.So far most contracts were signed by enterprises from Lubelskie voivodeship (167 contracts), slightly less (162 contracts) in Podlaskie voivodeship and in Warmińsko-Mazurskie (117 contracts).In the remaining two voivodeships, 63 contracts were signed in Podkarpackie and 11 in Świętokrzyskie voivodeships.

The highest employment growth was noted in Podlaskie voivodeship, where – according to the entrepreneurs’ responses – as many as 108 new jobs were created.In the remaining voivodeships of the Eastern Poland Macroregion employment growth was noted at the level of:73 new jobs in Warmińsko-Mazurskie voivodeship, 50 in Podkarpackie, 36 in Lubelskie and 18 in Świętokrzyskie voivodeship.

The Eastern Poland Economic Promotion Programme, implemented by the Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency S.A. under Measure 1.4 of the Operational Programme Development of Eastern Poland aims at improving the competitiveness and attractiveness of the region.It assumes the promotion of five voivodeships of the Eastern Poland Macroregion:Lubelskie, Podkarpackie, Podlaskie, Świętokrzyskie and Warmińsko-Mazurskie.The main goal of the programme is to raise the interest of potential investors and partners in the economic offer of Eastern Poland and to accelerate the socio-economic development of the region.Promotional activities are directed mainly at EU countries, USA, Russia, China, Korea, India and Persian Gulf countries.Sectors of strategic importance for Eastern Poland include:food industry, wood and furniture sector, BPO, yacht and aviation sectors, chemical, machine and RES industries as well as business tourism.
