Economic Mission of Food industry in Abu Dhabi Trade Fair

Ten Polish food producers participated in the SIAL Middle East International Food Trade Fair in Abu Dhabi. Their economic mission was related to the Eastern Poland Economic Promotion Programme conducted by The Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency (PAIiIZ).

The SIAL Middle East International Food Trade Fair in Abu Dhabi took place on 26-28 November, 2012. It was one of the major events for the food industry and it reached almost all continents and the key countries from the region, including Canada, Brazil, China, and France. The economic mission of the Polish food sector was organized as part of  the Eastern Poland Economic Promotion Programme conducted by PAIiIZ, and it resulted from a significant increase of Persian Gulf countries in the world food trade .

The experience from the previous missions organized by the Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency (PAIiIZ), such as participation in Gulfood Fair in Dubai in 2011, the mission accompanying the visit of the Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk in the Middle East, or participation in the Annual Investment Meeting in 2010 and in 2011, made it possible to select Polish entrepreneurs who participated in the mission. It also helped to understand which products the Arab consumers are most attracted to. Thus, the chosen ones were the producers of dairy products, specialized powder dairy products, honey, sweets, groundcover fruit preserves, and spices. Thanks to the participation in the Trade Fair, the Polish producers not only had the possibility to present their  products, but also to make multiple new business contacts with the local businesses representatives, or else to strengthen the already established ones ,also with the neighbouring Dubai.

Polish products were exhibited at the regional Eastern Poland Stand no. B170, in the hall no. 5. Thanks to the SIAL ME Purchasers Club platform and “Never Miss a Buyer” system, the entrepreneurs had the opportunity to directly contact the representatives of the biggest retail chains and the Regions’ distributors..

The Eastern Poland Economic Promotion Programme has been running for 2.5 years. Business contacts obtained at missions and trade fairs during that time enabled the food related companies from the macroregion to sign contracts worth 633,000 USD. Hopefully, the trade relations between Polish entrepreneurs and the Arabic world representatives will continue, their fruitful development enabling export growth and increasing trade profits.
