The prizes – Eco-City of 2013 – have been awarded. Ełk, Warszawa, Zamość, Kościerzyna and Płońsk are the cities that have been the most effective in implementing sustainable development in Poland.

“This year’s awards were given out in two categories: sustainable mobility and ecological construction projects. Sustainable development includes, first and foremost, innovative solutions friendly for both the citizens and the environment,” emphasises Karolina Kulicka from the Ministry of Environment.

In her opinion, ecological solutions applied by the self-governments are mainly a result of the opportunity to use the EU funds.
